SESSION TITLE: Palliative Care and End of Life

SESSION TYPE: Original Investigation Poster

PRESENTED ON: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 01:30 PM - 02:30 PM

PURPOSE: In 2011, we presented our new program first year data from 2010 - 2011 detailing the number of adult palliative medicine consultations at one of our community hospitals. While this one hospital continued and maintained its palliative care services, our second hospital initiated its services in 2011 - 2012. We chose to look at the number of palliative care consultations at both of these facilities in order to discern trends in these programs. Such trends would directly impact on the staffing needs for sustaining these services. Our hypothesis was that palliative care consultations increased at both hospitals after an initial start up period, and then remained active.
