PURPOSE: Clinical and epidemiological studies have demonstrated obesity and asthma may represent a unique phenotype, which is more difficult to control, less responsive to therapy and have higher healthcare utilization. African Americans experience greater asthma prevalence, more severe exacerbations and higher morbidity than Caucasians. We aimed to study the relationship of ethnicity and obesity on bronchodilator responsiveness.
