INTRODUCTION: Tubercular pleural effusion is known to be the most common extrapulmonary manifestation of primary pulmonary tuberculosis in the developing world. However, incidence of tuberculosis in the western world has steadily declined over the past few decades in non HIV patients. We present a rare case of pleural tuberculosis which accounts for less than 1% of all exudative effusions.
