INTRODUCTION: Refractory hepatic hydrothorax (RHH) is defined as pleural effusion in a patient with liver cirrhosis without evidence of cardiopulmonary disease that is present despite optimal salt and water restriction. Management remains a clinical challenge. We present a case of successful pleurodesis with placement of an indwelling pleural catheter (IPC).
