INTRODUCTION: Typically, an infected cat scratch may warrant treatment for Bartonella as well as surrounding cellulitis. However, in an immunocompromised patient, atypical organisms can be spread from felines through unusual means that can lead to disseminated disease, respiratory failure, and death.
