INTRODUCTION: Leuconostocs are gram positive, catalase negative bacteria comprising of L mesenteroides, citreum, lactis and others. Infections due to Leuconostocs in immunocompetent individuals without risk factors are rare. We present this case of a Leuconostoc lung empyema in a healthy immunocompetent individual.
