SESSION TITLE: Allergy - Asthma Slide

SESSION TYPE: Original Investigation Slide

PRESENTED ON: Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 07:30 AM - 08:30 AM

PURPOSE: To look for prevalence of Allergic Bronchopulmonary Aspergillosis (ABPA) among patients with bronchial asthma and to compare two different diagnostic criteria for diagnosing ABPA.

METHODS: 167 patients with a clinical and spirometery confirmed diagnosis of bronchial asthma were evaluated. Asthma severity was assessed using asthma control test and spirometery. Aspergillus fumigatus skin sensitivity test (AST), total serum IgE and serum A. fumigatus IgE level were estimated. Chest X-ray and HRCT-chest was also done. Prevalence of ABPA was estimated as per the Rosenberg Patterson diagnostic criteria and the new Agarwal criterion was also evaluated. The two diagnostic criteria were compared to see for their concordance and discordance.
