A 22-year-old African-American exotic dancer presented with transient loss of consciousness. She described dyspnea on exertion and hemoptysis for 3 days. For the past 3 months, she had episodes of nausea and vomiting. She had no prior medical or significant family history. She smoked about a pack of cigarettes per day and consumed alcohol socially. She denied intravenous drug use or multiple sexual partners.
