Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS) emerges from the last decade as a critical advancement in bronchoscopy.1 EBUS may supplant mediastinoscopy for sampling potentially malignant lymph nodes, and it may improve the diagnostic yield in bronchoscopic evaluation of parenchymal nodules.2 Data suggest that EBUS is beneficial in diagnosing sarcoidosis,3 perhaps even in a cost-effective manner compared with mediastinoscopy.4
