Extract

A 45-year-old man presented with left-sided pleuritic chest pain and shortness of breath that developed suddenly while playing golf. The man had been in his usual state of health when these symptoms developed. His medical history was significant only for atrial fibrillation that was successfully treated 8 months previously via circumferential radiofrequency ablation. The patient was a nonsmoker and worked as a painter, but otherwise his history was noncontributory.
